Trifecta: FAA, ROTC, WAI

The FAA still loves us I guess. Amy and Pat blessed the operation again...they want an updated "Rules of Operation" by the middle of September though! Adam is the knowledge test center supervision now and did a great job showing it off to Amy.

The place looks much better with the carpets cleaned and we showed it off when we hosted 18 ROTC cadets for demo flights and had the Women in Aviation there for their meeting.

Twitter Feed Now Available!

OK all you digital groupies, East Hill is on Twitter. (Justin Maas stopped by today and put me up to it) You can find the link on the member home page or click this title to drive you to that address.
The idea is to provide timely and important updates to the "true believers" when it might be inappropriate to send a message to the whole club (active/inactive all get the group notices) Jump in there and let me know what you think.

Member Blog: Post Your Flight!

Blogging software makes it possible for anyone to write to our group site. This is a fun way to share your experiences and help others get up their courage to try a trip beyond the "50nm barrier." Currently there are pictures from Brent Chidsey's P-51 ride and some pictures of Mike Meador's flight down the Hudson Corridor.

Carlos Santos III New Pilot!

We have a new pilot; congratulations to Carlos! Now the burden of every new pilot: flying all your friends. Carlos needs to know where to fly for (cheap) food.

Veterans Administration Approval

We have reached approval with NYS for our veterans training courses. The final step is VA in Buffalo but this is pro forma. Interested vets should check their eligibility. We only take reimbursement at East Hill through the Montgomery Bill (Chapter 30) but our affiliated SUNY school can take the "new GI Bill" for all flight training here.

New Hangar "Safety Box"

Please be careful while moving our planes. Our newest and best Skyhawk is sporting chipped off paint and damage to both wings where members have run it into the wall! (No one confesses of course) This costs all members when we have to repaint it again (and again) If you open the doors completely and keep the wheels inside the painted lines, you cannot hit the wings (physics)

Please get help whenever you are moving a plane; another set of eyes in invaluable! Students should not attempt to move planes in and out of the hangar.
